slightly random, but cause you guys talk about the berkeley tree sitters alot and vanessa wants comments (on something that doesn't really need comments cuz i think it's perfectly great the way it is...and you shouldn't need validation from a bunch of asses like me to know that the work you do is grade a...)
did you know that the oak trees in berkeley aren't even that old? nor is it their natural location.
think about it...how many trees naturally grow in that perfect position and slope for a stadium and street to be built right next to it.
the grove is between the street and the stadium.
these f'ing trees were planted by the university 70 years ago when they planted the stadium. they have absolutely no historical significance.
being that the trees themselves might be more than 70 years old (they were probably at some level of maturity before they were moved considering their size)...it proves they had no historical significance or else they wouldn't have been moved in the first place.
thus any sort of significance that they might have would have been established by their presence on the university property...the only event of significance in which these trees have held a part is when a bunch of douche bag hippies (50 years after the civil rights movement, btw) decided to sit in the trees and attract attention to themselves.
most of the people in the trees are people like Zachary Running Wolf..who ran for mayor of Berkeley a few years ago. One of his major running points is that the city of Berkeley is conceding too much to the University of California (with such examples as allowing them to construct and expand as the school grows.......or renovate a damn stadium). correct me if i'm wrong, but if it wasn't for the University, don't you think the f'ing city wouldn't even exist...! Even all this hippie shit...Civil Rights movement...sitins...ALL STUDENTS.
I go to Cal...I hate the city...love the school...and might even call myself a republican...but fuck...someone tell these hippies to kill themselves...why does it take 2 years for the courts to allow the university to improve the facilities which bring in what's probably the 2nd most revenue to the city of Berkeley (behind parking tickets) which is football games! ...yeah berkeley...why wouldn't you want 80k people coming to your city 5 weeks out of the year and pumping in TONS of money into the local economy; not to mention the free marketing for the city when the games are televised...
and while i'm ranting...f'n prius's...supposed to be good for the environment? ask these pious fucks what they're gonna do when they want to get rid of those rechargeable batteries...the chemicals in the batteries and (the others involved in making them) can be just as harmful and toxic for the environment as greenhouse gases
...so F you berkeley and your damn condescending environmental attitude...i found it ironic that when the power went out to the southside of the city a few months ago that the only people had lights in the area were....THOSE F'ING TREE SITTERS...they had generators and spot lights setup...so they were pumping greenhouse gasses into the air at night while the city had no power (in the middle of midterms season)...they were prolly just using the lights to watch themselves do rain dances at midnight anyway...
i hate this city..but yes menace, the entire bay area isn't like this...
